A suggested improvement to the process would be to keep these OLD MIIDs in the Industry PIM allowing dealers to do this process on their own timeline in a larger batch.
A suggestion is the mark the MIID that we want to remove with a status of “retired”. Keep these SKUs in the Industry PIM, the dealer could continue to be mapped to this retired sku in CIMM2 and DB mirror until they were ready to make this change. Retired skus would need to be excluded from matching processes so their use would diminish.
This would limit the number of times a dealer would need to do this process and prevent the scenario where the old MIID SKU is removed from the Industry PIM prior to completing the process.
After an agreed period of time, or when we run a script to determine that no store skus are still mapped to a retired sku, we could delete these skus from the database.
