Allow category images to automatically show the most popular item image as an option

In order to make category images more relevant, I would like to see an option to allow the most popular item from each category level to "float" up as a selectable image for any given category level.

In other words, if widget F is the most popular item in Category_Level_1 Code C, and widget F appears in a Level_3 terminal category, the item image for Level_3, Level_2, and Level_1 under Category C would all prepopulate a drop-down with the image for widget F.

That logic would apply to each category image to bring the most popular items up as an option for each category and subcategory.
